Being In Love Can No Longer Be A Secret---A Brain Scan Would Let The Cat Out Of The Bag

Being in love can no longer be the secret you have always wanted it to be. Scientists from China and the US have come up on some specific areas of the brain that display hyperactivity when you are in love. This means it can be detected if you are in love.

Scientists have managed to isolate some parts of the brain that show stimulation when the individual is subjected to reward or motivation. Likewise, being in love is made visible by detecting stimulated parts of the brain.

Deep research sheds light on the mechanism of love which is an effective way for a scan of the brain that shows being in love. About a hundred students from Southwest University, Chongqing, China were chosen for the study.

Some MRI scans are sufficient to bring out the amorous tendencies of the individual. Certain alterations occur in the brain activity when a person is in love. They are mapped in the scanning process.

The study was conducted with three groups of respondents. One group comprised those actively in love, 'in-love' group, another group comprised those who were just out of a relationship, 'ended-love' group, and the third group was of those who had never been in love, 'single'.

Group members were instructed to keep their minds clear of all thoughts while the scanning was being performed.

Members of the 'in-love' group displayed enhanced activity in different parts of the brain. An enhanced activity was observed in the area that pertains to reward, motivation and emotion regulation. The time during which the person had been in love corresponded to the amount of actiivity displayed.

LIkewise, the longer the participants had been deprived of any form of romantic activity, the lower amount of activity was witnessed.
